This weekend has officially marked the beginning of the footy season (AFL/ "Aussie Rules Football"). We have been told that picking your footy team is more important than picking the name of your first born. We have made a decision and declared our support for the Western Bulldogs! They are a team from Footscray, which is a western suburb near Altona. They are known as a team that NEVER wins... much like the Chicago Cubs! They are also known as the team with "working class fans", and the team that is acceptable to support (unlike Collingwood or St. Kilda apparently... both of which would be like supporting the Yankees). So tomorrow we head off to the Telstra Dome like a million other crazed fans with our season tickets in hand (yup, season tickets) and attempt to learn yet another crazy sport. Our love for cricket hasn't died, it's just seen the completion of it's season. Now it's time to throw on a Bulldogs jersey, learn their fight song, and cheer on the losers!!!
